Hi all,
\nThere are many authors out there like myself who have forgone the traditional publishing route in favor of independently distributing our work. I made the decision to publish independently because smaller presses couldn’t do much for me that I couldn’t do myself. Instead of waiting years to catch a break with a larger publisher, I came to the conclusion that I might as well start building my own brand. The choice didn’t come lightly, but I decided that I will write until I die. Consequently, it doesn’t matter if my first book or series of books go the route of traditional publishing — I’ll get there eventually. In the meantime, I plan on providing high-quality literary experiences while building a base of support on social media.<\/p>\n

There’s a hitch.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I need reviews. We all do. <\/p>\n

If you are in the habit of unearthing gems from mounds of indie writers then share those gems with the world. Read new writers like you find new musicians and share them with your circle of friends. Independent publishing often means greater quality for lesser pricing. Digital forms of distribution are even more affordable. You often end up with great works of literature equal or better to that of mainstream works for a fraction of mainstream cost. No matter how you cut it, you are making out on the deal. So how do you pay back that writer who spent over a year fine-tuning that fantasy adventure that you jumped into after each work day this past week? Write a review. Nothing fancy, nothing as verbose as my blog posts, just the truth… just the truth.<\/p>\n

You can take five minutes to repay the person who invested a year or more of emotional heartache, anxiety, self-doubt and self-loathing while plotting and planning, characterizing, laying out visceral landscapes and delving deeply into psychological intrigue. <\/p>\n

5 minutes for 500,000 minutes<\/em> — More than fair. <\/p>\n
